Dr. Shantashree S. Sengupta is presently Librarian, Progressive Education Society’s Modern College of Arts, Science and Commerce (Autonomous), Shivajinagar, Pune-411005, Maharashtra, India. The college is affiliated to the Savitribai Phule Pune University, Pune (formerly known as University of Pune). Shantashree has an experience of 19 years as a College Librarian including 09 years as Lecturer in Library and Information Science for B. Lib-I.Sc and M.Lib-I.Sc. She was Librarian in S.S.P.M’s Chandmal Tarachand Bora College, Shirur, Dist.Pune from April 2003-September 2019. Other past assignments include: Lecturer, Department of Library and Information Science, HPT Arts & RYK Science College, Nasik, Maharashtra (August 2002 –April 2003).
She was awarded her Ph.D in May 2015 from Savitribai Phule Pune University, Pune in the topic “E-thesis Repositories in the World: A critical analysis” under the Guideship of Professor Dr. S.K.Patil (Retired University Librarian, SPPU, Pune). She received support from Iryna Kuchma, Member, Board of Director, NDLTD for her Ph.D Research Survey. Shantashree presented her work in the 18th International Symposium ETD2015 held in Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi in November 2015.
Dr. Sengupta has been associated with several Administrative and Academic Committees in College and University. She was Member, Board of Studies (Library and Information Science), Savitribai Phule Pune University, Pune from 2016-2018. A promoter of open access, she has developed Institutional Repository of her College using DSpace, developed Subject Gateway, Library and Information Centre Blog, Ask a Librarian Reference App and Google Scholar Institutional Research Profile.
Dr. Sengupta received Global Librarians’ Award 2021 by Education Foundation for Excellence in Competence & Remarkable Work and Contribution in Library Services.
Dr. Sengupta believes in continuous education and has been learning advanced techniques through several Faculty Development Programmes, Refresher Courses and SWAYAM Courses. She has written 28 research papers, 05 chapters in edited books and presented several talks on varied topics related to library and information science, e-content development and research methodology. Shantashree has been associated with organizing several National / State/ Institutional Level Conferences/Webinars/Workshops.
