Peter E. Sidorko was the University Librarian at The University of Hong Kong (HKU). In this position, Peter had full responsibility for directing all aspects of the HKU Libraries’ system, including its policy formulation, planning, budgeting and development processes. The library network consists of one Main Library and six branches with a staffing profile of around 230. Peter was also a part-time lecturer in the University’s continuing education school, HKU SPACE, as well as the Faculty of Education. He was an elected Member of the OCLC Asia Pacific Regional Council (APRC) Executive Committee, a Director on the Board of Directors of CLOCKSS and the President (elect) of the Hong Kong Library Association (HKLA). Prior to his stint in Hong Kong, Peter spent almost 20 years working in various capacities in university libraries in Australia including the University of Newcastle, the University of New South Wales and the University of Sydney.

The University of Hong Kong Library has been very much at the forefront of electronic theses and open access initiatives in Asia and is the first library in the region to have digitized its full back set of theses. These now reside within the University’s Institutional repository, the Scholars Hub (http://hub.hku.hk/).
